Terhi Tuovinen

Photographer, Content Creator & Visual Artist from Finnish Lapland

Northern nature and all its phenomena are an endless source of inspiration for me, and it’s important to be able to capture Arctic nature as it is now.

I grew up in a small town in North of Lapland where nature is present in everyday life. Our family spent as much time outdoors as possible and my love for swamps, forests, fells, lakes and rivers formed back then.

Through my work I want to share that love and respect for Northern nature.

Photography

I do photoshoots for both businesses & individuals and offer image licensing. My photo bank holds thousands of images, mainly from Lapland and Northern parts of Norway.

Social Media

I help businesses with social media content creation, publishing, management & development. I also run my own Instagram account, where I’m open to collaborations with brands that share my values.

Art

My art explores the human connection with nature, bringing it closer to the viewer. In addition to photography, I work with ink and charcoal as well as watercolor. My artwork is available for commissions, personal projects, and collaborations.

Observing the ever-changing nature of Lapland

My goal is a lifelong project to observe the nature of Lapland and document things at risk of disappearing due to human activity. In this video above, for example, you can see palsa mires, which are threatened by climate change. Winters are also changing for the same reason. The highly endangered freshwater pearl mussel still survives in the clear, pristine rivers of the north. Light pollution is increasing on our planet, and Lapland’s dark sky, untouched by artificial lights, may become a rarity in the future.
